The Best of Kickstarter 2012

PS  The project I funded is the "Fishbone," a paracord fastening system.  It is made by a metal worker who posts metalwork projects on Instructables (instructables.com) as "Mr. Balang."  His work is always very cool.

Kickstarter is a platform for innovation.  It allows projects to advertise their funding needs, benefits to contributors, and project descriptions.  You set up a target date and a funding requirement.  Contributors pledge moneys and when the total contributions match or exceed the funding requirement the project is a go and the project lead gets the cash (less a small % to Kickstarter).

The product is a bit pricey, but I hope to see one in person sometime soon.  Lansing Area firms, this would look great in your lobby (invite me to see it after the install :))
