Gantthead's PM for Charity Effort

On Thursday, I received a nice email from Dave Garrett of Gantthead fame.  Dave offers to put PMs together with charitable causes for volunteer work.  I encourage all PMs to join me in volunteering.

Great idea Dave!  Makes me proud to be a Gantthead.

Fellow ganttheads,
We wish you the very happiest of holiday seasons and as always want you to know how much we appreciate your participation in our community. Thank you very much for being one of us
It's been a busy year. In times like these, family and friends often seem "out of scope" in the project that is your life. Here at gantthead we hope that you can enjoy some time with the people that matter most to you – that your holiday season is filled with love, laughter, and the good things that make all of your hard work worthwhile.
This year and every year, we hope that we've saved you a bit of time through an approach, template or example; making your job a bit easier and more secure.  I personally like to imagine us saving someone a few hours that they can then spend with family or providing the spark that helped a member really impress their management team. At the end of the day, it's always about our mission of making YOU more successful.
Helping others be successful… together
Over the years, we've taken on a number of charitable activities.  For me personally, the ones where we've met the individual we are helping are the most gratifying.
As we move into the new year, gantthead will be working with other project management-related firms to take on charitable endeavors that will help volunteers manage worthy projects and gain experience in our industry. The projects themselves are in the process of being selected and will vary a great deal in terms of size and scope, but we are likely to want people interested in:
  • Mentoring veterans returning to the workforce
  • Managing charitable projects either in person or remotely
If you happen to have 10 or more hours next year and would like to find out more, please drop me a note and let me know. No pressure – we just want to help people help each other as much as possible. There's nothing like having a direct impact on the life of an individual and that's exactly the sort of thing that we are trying to facilitate in the coming year.
Whether or not you're interested in our charitable PM program, I hope you have a fantastic end of 2011 and are looking forward to a 2012 that's even better!
Best,
Dave
