Simon Sinek's Golden Circle

This week's tool is Simon Sinek's golden circle as described in this TED talk:

Simon walks through his "Golden Circle" and paints a picture of how to improve your messaging.

Trying to apply Simon's advice, to go from the inside out, here is my message for AboutProjectManagement.com

(Why)  I believe that projects are everywhere, ubiquitous, and that it is in the thousands of projects I see everyday that I can have the greatest impact.  (How) I impact projects by being a constant source of positive reinforcement and encouragement to everyone working on projects.  (What) I post to AboutProjectManagement.com six days a week to share good news, good thoughts, and great projects with my project peers.

Wow!  It works!  After I post this, I'll add this to the header on AboutProjectManagement.com.

Share your thoughts (or experiments) in the comments.

The true brilliance is Xavier's ability and willingness to go beyond stakeholder expectations to deliver something much better!

Congratulations Xavier!

Sunday Inspiration - Peter van Manen

This week's inspirational post features a TED talk by Peter van Manen.  "How can Formula 1 racing help . . . babies?"

In the talk, Peter describes taking concepts, practices and software from the auto racing industry and applying them to medical care for infants.  I find myself thinking about how we can transfer the same concepts and practices to project management.

". . .  25,000 things that can go wrong."
"Always changing the car, always trying to make it faster."
"When things start to go bad, you have a short time to make a difference."

Massive Online Collaboration

I am fascinated by projects that aim for massive collaboration.  I was ignorant of these until I saw a great TED talk on the subject.  Here is Luis von Ahn describing his work at TEDxCMU:

DuoLingo, the massive collaboration project that Luis describes in the talk is not in beta (I am a beta tester) and it ROCKS!  I am learning Spanish and have already translated parts of the web from Spanish to English :)

Enjoy this, one of my favorite TED Talks.

Any great ideas on additional massive online collaboration ideas?  Any that target projects and project management?  Add a comment!

FYI:  Here is a screen shot of my DuoLingo page . . .
